Reflection

In the begging of this project, I didn't know much about video editing. However, given that I have an iPhone and decided to take advantage of it. iMovie is an exclusive app available strictly to iPhone users. Using this exclusive app would give me the advantage of having a high quality video editor without having to use my hard earned money. At the start, I didn't even know how to add text to a video. However, I have now self-taught myself to be fluent in iMovie. Throughout this experience, I learned how to add text, special effects and music to my videos. This will definitely be useful when creating memory collages of my beloved family and friends. It was definitely challenging to complete this project while having to balance 4 other honors classes and a job. I did however, successfully manage this challenge by taking advantage of every bit of free time I had in my other classes. One thing I wish I did better is figure out how to put a portion of the song in instead of it jus

Final Production Blog

Its Jenna again! This is my final production blog. I am putting my project together. I always thought that since I have Spotify premium, my songs would be downloaded to my phone, not just on the app. Unfortunately, Apple does not honor that agreement. I ended up having to pay for Mayla. She was expensive at $1.29. I understand that that doesn't sound like a lot to many people. But take it from someone who works on $11 an hour, a dollar is a lot of money. I am still enraged that I did not get the job I interviewed for. Not because I had to get ready in a small bathroom in a coffee shop to avoid street harassment on the way there (though I did). It also wasn't the fact that I had to ride my scooter there, and sacrifice my alone time to go convince these people to hire me. It was because a bad piece of sidewalk and bad vision caused me to fly off the scooter. Scooter was fine, I wasn't. I now have to work 16 hours over two days with badly scratched and bruised knees.  Anyway,

Production Blog- My Second Video Diary

Image
Hi, it's Jenna again! Yesterday was my last video diary for this class. Although I had originally planned to do it at work today, I then came to the realization that my coworkers would probably bully me out of it. Today I work from 4-12, and school finishes at 3. Luckily, I bought an energy drink yesterday to get me through it. I am slowly finding photos of myself to put in the commercial. I am worried about the fact that I don't  have any photos just of myself. Hopefully that won't affect my grade. I have also been struggling to focus in school due to the excessive amount of people in all my classes. Normally, I could do all of this in my study hall, and be done extremely quickly. However, I made a somewhat bad decision last year that is preventing me from getting my study hall. I joined the Soaring L's Mentorship program, not just as a mentor, but as a lead mentor. I also happened to get the history teacher (who shall remain nameless) who likes in drowning his student

Production Blog - My First Video Diary

It's Jenna again! I have been working on my commercial. I saw the rubric said you need 2-3 videos with you in it for full credit. Unfortunately, I am extremely photo shy, and don't have many items of media of myself. To fix this problem, I made a video diary yesterday. I decided to be a good big sister and daughter by taking my younger sister to her gymnastics class. My mom was exhausted from work, and I am grateful for her sacrifices as a single mom, and I wanted to return the favor. In the video, you can see us walking there while I drag her in her wagon. I think a big problem with the video is that you can barely hear anything over my panting. In my defense its a 20 minute walk. You can also see her eating the carrots and cucumbers I prepared for her, and my hungry eyes regretting not packing anything for myself. Next class I will do my last production blog, and I work as a greeter at the movies on Friday and a food runner on Sunday. Both positions have free time when its s

Production Blog - Brainstorming

Good morning! I woke up to the surprising fact that the commercial has changed from the previous two years. I had a sister who I helped film her Vans commercial and a friend who did a Crayola commercial. Luckily, this commercial seems easier. This new project will essentially be an IMovie about my life using pictures and videos. I don't have many photos of myself, so I'll have to take some. The only photos I have of myself is one from work, a few from my trips and a ton with my little sister. You'll soon know what she looks like, because she will definitely be a big part of this, and future projects. The camera part on my phone is also broken. It broke the other day out of nowhere. This was extremely frustrating because this is the only device I can use to film. We made an appointment at the Apple store, and we're hoping the repair cost is reasonable. I have decided that the song I will use will be Mayla by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. This song is definitely

Research and Planning

Hi, it's Jenna again! For my commercial I have decided to do a Hot Wheels commercial. I decided to do this based on my younger sister's love for the cars, and my available access to these toys. My younger sister loves cars and is very dramatic, so I have also made this choice because she begged me to be the star in all of my projects for this class. She is also a huge fan of the toy, and has a talent for being able to play with them for hours on end. I haven't narrowed my song choices down much. I have a few genres in mind for the song. For the rock genre, I have the songs "Born to Be Wild" by Aerosmith and The Runaway's "I Love Playing With Fire" in mind. These songs have a certain feeling of energy and power, which is typically seen in commercials for both toy and real cars. However, I may consider taking the ad in a different direction. I may try using pop music to give a happy and upbeat tone. For this, I have the song "Born This Way" b

My name is Jenna Grivas and I am excited to start my blog. I am 16 years old and I currently work at a movie theater, a job of which I love but feel I am critically underpaid for. I have two sisters, an older sister who is 19 and a younger who is 5. I love them both unconditionally, and they love me so long as I continue giving them free tickets to the movies. My top two favorite non-human things in this world are my two dogs, Blu who was a adopted as a rescue almost 10 years ago, and Luna who is a sassy Frenchie who we allowed into our home 2 years ago. I am allergic to both dogs, and naturally the cuter dog gives me the worst allergies. Though we were unaware of my allergies until after we got the first dog, by the time we got the second they knew, but at that point I was also a middle child. This feeling of neglect has led to my serious addiction to popcorn, which is fueled by my job. I have dreams of becoming a district attorney to help bring justice to victims of senseless cr
